If you are referring to a small 12 volt battery as used in a cordless drill, the answer is no. Those batteries do not have near enough amps to turn over a vehicle engine.

How do you jump start a 24 volt lorry with 12volt car?

As far as I know you can only do it if your lorry has two 12volt batteries connected in series, ie with the positive of one battery connected to the negative of the other. If so, then you connect the car jump leads to ONE of the lorry batteries in the normal way (car positive to lorry battery positive, car negative to lorry battery negative). Try to start the lorry like this, with the car engine running at a fast idle, with all electrics on the car turned off. If this doesnt work, try again with the jump leads connected to the other lorry battery ONLY. If this doesnt work, then both lorry batteries are too flat and you'll have to jump off a 24volt lorry / charge or replace the batteries. Jumping off a 12volt car usually only works if you have one lorry battery which is ok-ish, and you use the jump leads to "help" the weak one with the car. Good luck from Norn Irn!

Can any battery charger charge a marine battery?

Chargers don't care is the battery is used on a boat, a car, or whatever. What is important is that you match the voltage of the battery and the charger. Don't use a 12volt charger on a 24volt battery, etc.

If your car does not start but all the lights and radio come on and it starts after a jump what happened?

1. Battery could have a weak cell. 2. Brushes on starter motor may be worn. 3. check battery connection at battery for good connection. 4. either positive or negitive battery cable broken at connector. 5. starter solenoid not working and allowing starter to spin engine over to start. 6. loose 12volt wire at secondary connector on starter solenoid. 7. bad or weak 12volt fusable link to ignition system.

Can you use a 12volt car battery charger to charge a 18volt cordless drill battery?

I'm actually charging my 12V sealed lead acid battery with a laptop adapter which output is 19V, 2.1A. I'm not sure this will shorted the life of my battery or not, but the battery hold the charge. I don't have a voltmeter to test the voltage, but the battery can light up a 12V car headlight light bull. So, I guess it work.

Can you use a truck battery in a car?

Short answer: Yes - MaybeLong answer: Yes, if that batter will fit in the car's battery tray, and has the posts or side terminals in the correct place. additionally you will want to ensure that it is a 12volt battery and not a 18 or 24 volt battery (depending on what you mean by truck). You will also want to look at both batteries and see if you can see the CCA # this is the Cold Cranking Amps, make sure that the "truck battery" is equal or exceeds the Car battery.

Does a starter drain a battery?

A starter does drain a battery. The battery holds a charge so that you can use your starter to start the car. After the car is started the alternator recharges your battery and runs your car and all it's accessories. If your car won't start or is having a hard time starting you can drain your battery by repeated unsuccessful attempts to start it.
