Don't eat it. It has started to spoil. If the container is unopened and you have handled and refrigerated it properly, return it to the store. Fresh mozzarella does contain bacteria and usually has a very short shelf life. It may or may not be safe, but there's no way to tell and you probably would not like the flavor.
I would not eat it, who knows how many flies have been on it
That could depend how far past the sell by date it has gone. Whether or not you should eat it will be your decision.
eat it and find out
I eat it .
Not all americans eat cheese instead of mozzarella, we actually eat it with cheese then sprinkle mozzarella on top. Grouping together every american in the world saying we all eat the same thing isnt right. We all like it differently i prefer cheese but i know some people who prefer mozzarella. The reason why most of us eat it with cheese though im not sure.
Mozzarella will keep, although drying, exposed to the air for up to a week before risking bacterial contamination. This is assuming it is in a fridge. If it isn't, then just one day is all it takes to make it unsafe to eat.
If they are ordinary (eg brown, closed cup etc) and they have been kept in the fridge, they go a bit wrinkly over time, but I'd eat them! You can eat the but they can not be classed as fresh. Fresh means as picked, for mushrooms, one week is old.
Yes, fresh is very good for you. You get to eat the vitamins that are still in fresh foods. Cooked foods have less vitamins in them.

At one week, the wee weasels are still nursing.
Only if you eat it.
