Yes, as long as all the information is still accurate and the account is open, the book may be used. If the account has been closed, or the information is out of date, the book should be shredded.
Even if the account is closed, the cash inside of the account is still considered an asset and no accounting entries are necessary. If a new account is opened, the new account is debited the cash balance and the old account is credited.
When whoever you wrote the check to deposits it into their account, it will be returned by the bank you had your account at because it is not longer open. Then they will probably try to collect the funds from you, and probably charge you a bounced check fee.Talk to the person to whom you issued the check and ask them not to cash the check because:You will end up paying check bounce chargesIt will spoil your credit historyYou are liable to be legally charged for issuing bogus checks
You can close out your Amazon account. After closing out the account it take so many hours for it to close completely.
There are two ways to do this. If you have a bank account of your own, and if your bank account has as much money or more, as the amount of the check, then you can take it to your bank and they will cash it for you. If you do not have such a bank account, your alternative is to take the check to the bank which issued the check (the address is printed on the check) and to also take legal identification with you (such as a driver's license or a passport) and they will cash it for you. I will also note that if neither of these alternatives is going to work for you, you might consider depositing the check in your account, or opening a bank account in which to deposit the check, rather than cashing it. It will clear, usually within a week, and you can then withdraw the money from your account. You do still need ID to open an account, however. Without ID, the world of banking is closed to you. Banks need to be able to confirm your identity.

I am not sure why your Amazon has not closed out after 2 days. You should try closing out the account again.
This depends on when a check is presented to the bank. If a check is in the process of being cleared by the bank when a person dies, it will most likely still be deposited into the bank account. However, once the bank receives official notification, such as a death certificate, the account is closed or transferred to the beneficiary.
Metropolitan Bank (or any bank, really) will not cancel a loan unless (1) you successfully are discharged from a Chapter 7 bankruptcy or (2) you defaulted and the bank decided to write it off after collection efforts. If your account was cancelled and you still have a loan outstanding, you are still responsible for making payments on that loan.

In theory, the estate's account cannot be "closed" until all assets are distributed, even though it may take years to track down beneficiaries and deliver the checks. Because the value is still "in the estate", the check on the closed bank should be exchanged for a valid one on another estate account, perhaps opened for the specific purpose of the final disposition. The executor/administrator may be personally liable for the amount of the check if the estate can't seem to find it.
Yes, as long as you still owe money.
Tagged have removed YoVille so it is completely impossible now, but you can still play on Facebook and MySpace.
