No. Doctors don't test women for every surgical procedure they need. They assume the woman herself check if she is pregnant and let him know.

I am 15 weeks pregnant and my doctor and I just discussed treatment options for my 8 cm asymptomatic ovarian cyst. She said if it twists or ruptures while I am pregnant she will need to do surgery to remove it and that it will likely involve removal of the entire ovary. If done during the second trimester, it will most likely be able to be done as a laproscopic surgery. After the second trimester if it begins to cause pain, it will be open abdomen surgery and again will likely mean the entire ovary has to go. I would definitely talk to your obstetrician about your individual situation though, especially if your cyst is causing pain or discomfort.
