It is good to wear a tampon in the pool better than anywhere else you vagina can get sore and dry when out of water use pads if out of water it is safer DO NOT use a pad in the water it will absorb water and become bigger and it will be visible on the out side of you suit.

Toxic shock syndrome is one. Leave it in too long and it can be problematic.

Conventional tampons are commonly made from rayon that is treated with hazardous chlorine bleaches that result in dangerous chlorinated toxins being released into the environment. Overtime, these chlorinated toxins can accumulate in the environment. According to the EPA, exposure to minute levels of dioxin, which is a chlorinated toxin, can result in immune system malfunctions, altered endocrine hormone activity, and studies have show a direct link between dioxin exposure in the environment and cancer, birth defects, and reproductive disorders. Considering that the average girl/woman will buy more than 11,000 tampons in her lifetime, organic cotton tampons are a simple but important choice to make a difference.

Yes, you can swim with tampons in - although do bare in mind that tampons should not be worn during light flow. It's best to timeit so you can insert a fresh tampon just before swimming, and if using tampons with strings be sure to tuck the string between your labia so it isn't noticed under your swimsuit.

To swim during your period you can use any of the following options:

  • Tampons
  • Soft tampons/Wet tampons
  • Menstrual sponges
  • Softcups
  • Diaphragms
  • Menstrual cups

Menstrual cups are the best option as they'e internal like tampons but safer and more hygienic so pose no health risks like TSS, vaginal infections, or dioxin - thus they are safe to wear for up to 12 hours and with any flow. Menstrual cups can be worn even with light flow, they don't leak like tampons or contribute to cramps, and nothing shows externally so best for swimming.

Yes, you can go swimming while wearing a tampon - you can also use other internal menstrual products to go swimming such as menstrual sponges, menstrual cups, or softcups too.

If you use tampons make sure you use correct absorbency and time it so you can insert a fresh tampon just before swimming, also have a pad on hand after swimming as the tampon may be full of blood or may have absorbed some pool water so may need to be changed or have the pad as back-up. if using tampons with strings make sure to hide the string between labia so it isn't noticed.

Yes, you can swim with a tampon in - you can also swim when using other internal menstrual products such as menstrual cups and softcups which can be used when tampons can't such as when flow is light, menstrual cups also don't leak like tampons can so can be a better option to consider.

If you use tampons be sure to use correct absorbency for your flow and time it so you can insert a fresh tampon before swimming. Have a pad ready for when you're done swimming, tampons can absorb some water so may need to be changed once you get out the water or you may need to use a pad as back-up in case you need to leave the tampon a little longer but worried it may leak.

Tampons are one option to swim on your period, but options like menstrual cups are better.

Tampons can absorb water - although they are inserted high in the vagina, so vaginal walls close around the tampon, water can still enter the vagina - this means that sometimes tampons can be more prone to leaking while in the water. Tampons can commonly increase cramps, which is not ideal when you are active such as while you are swimming. Tampons also can't be worn if you have light flow so on light days you'd have to either use a safer menstrual product like cups to swim or just not swim.

Yes, you can. The water only ends up touching the bottom don't worry : D. And the cotton string is strong enough to easily withstand water : P

Tampons and swimming?

You don't have to use tampons to swim while on your period. You can use menstrual cups and softcups for swimming, as well as safer than tampons cups can be worn with light flow which tampons can't, menstrual cups also don't leak like other options. You can also simply sit-out of swimming while you're on your period, it's up to you what you use and what you do on your period.

Do sport tampons work for swimmers?

Yes, sports tampons work as well as any other tampons for swimming - tampons are essentially all the same: absorbent wads of cotton or rayon, the design offers very little additional protection. A swimmer would be better off considering menstrual cups as unlike tampons cups can be worn even when flow is light or before menstruation to be prepared, cups also don't leak or increase cramps as tampons can. You can use any internal menstrual product to swim on your period.
