Can you start taking 300Mg Wellbutrin without taking low dosage first?

My doctor prescribed 300mg to me to start with. I was on Paxil 40mg...Wellbutrin seemed to be working for me but I have been feeling angry and irritable on the WB. Food cravings have been less though. Doc is switching me to 20mg of prozac. I will see what I feel like after weaning off WB.

∙ 12y agoi take 300mg XL at 6am and another 150mg XL at noon. my dr thinks this is safe and i have had few side effects. took about 5 weeks to kick in plus the addition of abilify. but finally the past three days i want to live again. weird.

400mg is the max recommended dosage for therapeutic use. Typically, no more than 300mg is prescribed. If you are taking it for recreational use, it's not a wise idea since it does significantly lower the seizure threshold.

That should be fine. I have combined two lower dosage pills to make a higher dose many times myself and was told by my doctor that it was perfectly safe.To be on the safe side you could call the pharmacy number on the bottle and confirm with the pharmacist on duty. Or in my case, the pharmacy was no help, and instead I had to get in touch with my doctor instead. :/Remember, when taking Wellbutrin XL (not Wellbutrin SR, don't confuse the two):1) Take WELLBUTRIN XL at the sametime each day. (not 8 or 12 hours apart).2) Take your doses of WELLBUTRIN XL at least 24 hours apart.3) If you miss a dose, simply wait until your usual dosing time to take it, try not to adjust your dose times without consulting your doctor first.
Should you worry if you normally take a 300mg and a 150mg Bupropion XL but you ran out of 150s you took your 300mg and then cut one and took the other 150mg?
I think I have this straight. You were prescribed 450mg of Buprion. That is the maximum dosage for this drug. What you did with cutting pills is ok but I wouldn't do it everyday. It is not a proper way to measure your dosage.

You can try it, although the full 300mg dose of wellbutrin is likely what's needed it if wil work for you. The 150mg doesn't seem to do much for anyone. I tried wellbutrin with just about every ssri out there, in different combinations and dosages but in three years I haven't found anything that significantly offsets the sexual side effects of ssris. Unfortunately, I think that if you're prone to the sexual s/e's of ssri there is nothing you can do about it - other than to stop taking them. It really sucks because I really liked lexapro but in the end had to choose between stress/irritability and the sex.

As a daily dose, yes. The normal dose would be between 150mg and 300mg. 300mg is significantly more effective than 150mg. The maximum recommended dose is 450mg, because seizure risk increases significantly at 600mg. A standard release pill is usually 75mg, but you would take 2 to 4 a day. The extended release pills are bigger, but that's because you can only take 1 or 2 a day because they take longer to absorb.
Can you take pristiq and Wellbutrin XL?
I can only answer anecdotally. It appears that Wellbutrin & Zyrtec do react when used together. When my Wellbutrin got up'd to 300mg (I also take 100mg of Zoloft), the Zyrtec made me incredibly sleepy to the point where I felt drugged & would not have felt comfortable driving a car. Normally Zyrtec does not make me sleepy even when I was on 150mg of Wellbutrin with 100mg of Zoloft or on 200mg of Zoloft alone. I will keep taking the Zyrtec but will take it before bed now. If you need to take both, I strongly suggest trying when you have nothing to do & nowhere to go.

No, it is not too much but the recommended dosage per 4-6hrs is 50mg and no more than 300mg in a 24hr period. So, I suppose if you take 75mg it is not to much so long as you do not exceed the reccommended 300mg/day.
