What are the pros of video games?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The U.S. military has found them of use in desensitizing soldiers to the killing of humans. After extended sessions of killing humans in video games, there is less qualms about doing it for real.

That answer may sound opinionated or biased, but as a veteran, I can assure you that it is an actual answer as to what the military regards as a "pro" of such games.

Anti-depressant with the least sexual side effects?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

No anti-depressant is known to have minimum side-effects for everybody as far as I am aware. We all seem to have different body chemistries which react differently with each AD. It is, unfortunately, a matter of experimentation to find the AD which works best, or at least with tolerable side-effects, for the person taking them. Don't get me wrong, I have the utmost confidence that for any individual, there is an AD which will have minimum side-effects and provide relief of the symptoms of depression. It is also possible that one of the other techniques available (non-medicinal) will prove effective. I base my words on my own experience and from reading the symptoms of many depressed people who write on the web at help sites. I am not medically qualified; just an ex-depressed person who needed medication and was prepared to try many tablet types before finding one which worked for me. Being a patient patient and having an understanding doctor who listens to your reports of bad side-effects and is prepared to try a new drug possibly several times is the surest way to resolving depressive episodes.

What is Wellbutrin prescribed for?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Wellbutrin is an anti-depressant

Wellbutrin (bupropion) is an antidepressant. Although it has almost the same chemical makeup of stimulants, it doesn't have the same effect

Like most antidepressants, it is an norepinephrine and dopamine reuptake inhibitor (NDRI), which is supposed to regulate the amount of dopamine and norepinephrine (the stuff that makes you happy) absorbed by your brain. And because of its chemical makeup, it can even reduce your threshold for seizures, so if you are epileptic, you doctor might prescribe something to counteract that effect.

Most people don't even start actively absorbing antidepressants until the 2nd or 3rd week of use. Doctors will most likely start you off at 150mg and raise it to 300mg, with the cap at 450mg if they think you need it. Tell them about any side effects you are having.

What reasons do people commit suicide?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

People commit suicide when they feel that life is pointless for them, most often they are very depressed and don't see themselves as having any sort of good future. Other people may think 'why does that person want to die and why is she depressed?' but depression is a serious illness just like cancer, diabetes etc... people don't choose and don't know why they have it. All types of people with all types of different back grounds get it. Some people who aren't depressed or suicidal may say that those who commit suicide are 'selfish' etc etc.. but it's just like any other serious sickness that causes death- the depression got to much. Basically, feeling depressed and suicidal is the worst feeling (i know...), and it is often made worse because people can't SEE it, like a broken bone or whatever, and you can't just 'cure' a mental illness. hope this answered your question!

Yes, they can be taken together, but talk to your doctor about the side effects first, because the risk of seizures is greatly increased and sometimes outweighs the benefits.

Does use of Wellbutrin cause skin pigmentation?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

There is little to suggest it would but there have been isolated claims of hair color change.

Skin pigmentation, either hyper or vitiligo, can indicate other disorders. Many of these disorders have symptoms which your doctor may recognize as depression without digging into biochemical causes.

For example, hemochromatosis causes skin hyper pigmentation commonly. It also has about an 80% coincidence of hypogonadism in men. No testosterone combined with lethargy, stressed liver may feel like depression. Blood test can check ferritin iron levels but a liver panel with counts for ACE, ALT and AST might warrant additional testing.

Or take Addison's disease, with minimal adrenal response, messed up salt levels and pigmentation issues. Again, you're going to feel tired and experience mood disturbances that may suggest depression.

Or how about low thyroid, vitiligo is a symptom. Vitiligo is absence of pigment but hyper pigmentation can occur around these patches.

I would have a blood test to look at endocrine, salt, iron and liver counts. Otherwise, you may be on to something.

I am not a doctor. I am taking Wellbutrin for smoking..

What if you took two Wellbutrin XL by accident?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

You can cause your liver and kidneys damage. Wellbutrin is meant to be taken at a maximum of 150mg per dose, up to twice per day (morning and evening) Each pill has a timed release of medication; meaning it slowly 'dissolves' keeping your dose at a steady rate throughout the day or evening until your next pill. It would be wise to phone the pharmacy at once to find out if they recommend inducing vomiting or a trip to the ER to be sure your internal organs don't shut down...of course the severity is all based on how many more than what your prescription is for, you have ingested.

Can you take Wellbutrin and Zoloft together?

User Avatar

You can, but they can interact with the same enzyme in the liver, so typically, we will start the Strattera at a lower dose than someone who is not on Zoloft (or any of the other SSRIs).

Hope this helps!
