Taking Tylenol PM is basically Tylenol and Benedryl mixed together. It relieves pain and makes you sleepy. Tylenol (acetaminophen) should NEVER be taken with alcohol, even beer. It can do major liver damage [see it on the label]. In rare cases it doesn't take much booze and Tylenol to send folks into liver failure! If you take Tylenol PM to help you sleep, skip the Tylenol and just take Benedryl. HOWEVER, mixing beer and medication is NEVER a good idea.
Because they both contain antihistamines, they will cause a reaction. Tylenol PM has the same antihistamine as Benadryl and it is not recommended that you take Zyrtec and Benadryl at the same time. Contact you doctor to verify if you can take your Zyertec in the morning (as usually prescribed) and the Tylenol in the evening. Zertec is a long acting antihistamine and should be out of your system before you go to bed. The Tylenol PM is a short acting antihistamine and would be out your system before your morning dosage.
Both medication can be taken together. However, both have similar side effects and these might be increased. If you can take a smaller dose (half) of ativan the night you take Tylenol PM, it would be the best choice.
