Alcohol can change the way anticoagulant drugs affect the body. Anyone who takes this medicine should not have more than one to two alcoholic drinks at any one time, and should not drink alcohol every day.

Please see the lawsuits in Canada and us for the "real ginger" claim. Determined to be 2 parts per million, not really affecting taste, certainly not enough for nutritional value. Does not seem to me probable it is affecting inr, but I am not a doctor or nutritional scientist. However, I would suggest that this may be a distraction from a real issue that is causing your fluctuations and should discuss with your hematologist. Blessings..... Cary

I read on another site that Gingerale can thin your blood and mess up your dose. I went from an INR of 2.1 to 5.0 in about a week.

Alcohol can change the effects of warfarin and also affect platelet functioning. It also predisposes to falls. It should generally be strictly limited in people taking warfarin.

Warfarin tablet thin the blood so you have to be careful you don't thin it too much. alcohol has a similar effect so it may cause the thinning to go too far.
