Your question is a little too vague. Do you mean you are abandoning this home? Are you replacing the current appliances with new ones? Are you selling the home and want to take the appliances with you? There may be different state laws as well. As far as I know here as an experienced general contractor in Colorado, there is only one of the above examples that is illegal.

Can a person take household property like a refrigerator when they move out?

You should only take what you brought in, that includes appliances. If you did not purchase the fridge then it is considered theft if you take it when you move out. You would have to clear the removal with your landlord upon moving out. In writing! If you purchased a place and it came with certain appliances, and then you decided to sell or rent it, then it is ok to remove the appliances if you want, since when you bought the place, anything that came with it is now considered yours, unless otherwise noted in the sales contract.

Shopping For Major Appliances?

Major appliances are sold at major retail stores or appliances stores. Major appliances are appliances that complete housekeeping tasks, such as washers and dryers, stoves, refrigerators, and dishwashers. The appliances differ from small appliances because they are generally difficult to move and remain fixed in place. When a home owner decides to purchase major appliances, they should shop around for the best deal possible. Many stores that sell major appliances will have special sales and deals for the customers. Certain items can even be found at clearance price which allows the shopper to save a lot of money. Major appliances usually include a manufacturer's warranty with the purchase. A manufacturer's warranty is valid for 30 days to a year, depending on the type of appliance and the company. The business that the major appliances are purchased from can also offer an extended warranty. The price of the extended warranty is determined by the number of years and the price of the major appliances. A major appliances store is the best place to purchase new or used appliances. The employees are trained about the appliances and are able to answer any questions that the customer may have. If the employee does not know the answer, they will help the customer find the answer. Customer service and arming the customers with knowledge about their new appliances is an important factor to major appliances store employees. Repair services are generally offered to customers with the purchase of a major appliance. Companies that do not have repair services are able to give the customer a referral to a company who can complete the repair. Some companies will offer in-home repair if the repair job allow it. If the repair needs to take place at the company or manufacturer, the company will take care of it for owner of the major appliance. If the appliances are not covered by warranty, the fee for the services will depend on the repair that is needed.
