A tooth infection is caused by a few specific bacteria that require a specific antibiotic or bactericidal substance. Cipro may work on some but not on others and is not a good idea unless you know exactly which bacteria are the cause of your tooth infection as a waste of time. Many tooth infections may be resolved with Anacardic acid ( found only in Cashews) as this is lethal to gram positive bacteria and worth trying (no side effects unless you are allergic to nuts). Look this up for research articles. Rinse your mouth with some Sea salt, baking soda, and a wee bit of hydrogen peroxide mixed in min 10X warm water and spit out. - DO NOT SWALLOW. It will help. Importantly, go to the dentist to at least FIND OUT if it is the tooth, or something deeper into the gum an abcess or gum disease. Then look this up online to see if you can do something yourself or you may have to get professional dental care somehow - the sooner the better.

Ciprofloxacin is not commonly prescribed for dental infections. However, it may be used for certain mouth or periodontal (gum) diseases. First, a culture and sensitivity test will be done. This will show the best antibiotic to treat the infection

Can cipro be used to treat tooth infections?

It can indeed, depending on what bacterium is causing the infection. However, if you're self-medicating, you should be advised that with teeth, the infection can more easily encapsulate inside the tooth and/or jaw, which makes it hard for systemic antibiotics to reach it. And these infections can be very serious indeed. Be careful and have a dentist at least look at this one. If you can't see a dentist, you can always show up at an Emergency Room -- they have to see you for this.

Can i take lexapro and ciprofloxacin?

From my experience, I do not believe that it is good to mix those two drugs. They are both powerful drugs. I was on celexa last year and I had to take antibiotics to cure an infection. As a result, I got a terrible yeast infection for months. I later learned that my doctor gave me cipro. Talk to your doctor, and see if you can get something other than cipro.
