∙ 13y agoThe most common medications used to treat ADHD include stimulants. Rarely, stimulants are used for treatment resistant depression. There are also off-label drugs such as Wellbutrin that are used off-label to treat ADHD and are proven effective for depression.
In some cases, depression that occurs with ADHD may be caused by poor treatment for the symptoms of ADHD. Also, some doctors will prescribe two separate drugs (one for ADHD and one for depression).

I have depression because I feel it is genetic and then I have a life situation that causes me chronic stress. Chronic stress leads me to depression. I will be mentally ill bipolar, mainly depressive side for the rest of my life. I don't like that fact yet it is just the way it is. Medication helps me immensely and I will be on it the rest of my life. I am lucky to have found a great psychiatrist.

Medication helps so much, with everything from remembering to brush one's hair in the morning to getting straight As.
