read casting numbers and research on the web. Just Google small block Chevy heads castine numbers. These numbers are under the valve covers so you will have to take one off.
Take off a cylinder head and measure the diameter of the bore.
you shouldn't have to change them unless they are leaking, blown, or you take the heads off for a repair or rebuild
PUSH rods and rocker arms... yes.
You would have to take off the electrical wires that are intact, fuel hose water temperature wires. take off the carburetor, distributor make sure you know the firing order to put the distributor and ignition wires back to prevent an easy start. Take off the intake manifold, take off the valve covers take off the roller rocker arms, pushrods, make sure you inspect them for signs of wear or damage, and mark the roller rocker arms and pushrods to which cylinder and location and place they are going back on when you're reusing them. But if you're replacing them you don't need to put them in the exact place. Lastly take off the cylinder heads, the bolts on the top will be bigger and the bolts on the bottom will be smaller. Coolant goes through the smaller bolts. After that take off the heads and inspect for wear and damage. You must clean the surface of the cylinder heads, clean valves and clean the area where the cylinder head sits which is the engine block. Make sure you use the proper head gaskets and make sure you put them the right way and torque them to whatever torque spec they are. Thank you.
From the inside of the vehicle disconnect the clutch pedal arm. Take off the master cylinder retaining nuts. From under the hood disconnect the lines. The cylinder should slide out.
