The Pharaoh used this as a form of relief work - they hired the farmers to build the pyramids during the flood season when they had no work on their farms and would otherwise be bereft of subsistence - a win-win arrangement: the Pharaoh got his tomb built and paid for it out of the state granaries, and the farmers got food during the off season.

The ancient Egyptians built pryamids to honour theirs Pharaohs and Gods/Goddesses. They also built them for the afterlife. They believeed that in the afterlife, you would be immortal if you were buried in a pyramid.

No, the purpose of pyramids was to protect from grave robbers. (how ironic that every pyramid built was broken into) They believed that the body could not be disturbed to make it to the "after-life".

The Egyptians used the pyramids as tombs for the pharaohs. They had all of their gold, jewls,things they used in their every day life in there, and things the Egyptians thought would make them have a happy afterlife. They also had paintings and statues and of course the mummy!
