yes it can and if its for a long distance consider removing your drive shaft
Its on the upper right hand side of the motor right above the coil

switch is located inside the hood in corner right side fender screw in firewall is vaccum style switch

If you can put your transfer case into neutral, that's all you should have to do. If not, it gets a bit more complicated.. you may have to remove the driveshaft.
Behind the glove box, behind the 4X4 module. Squeeze the sides of the glove box to get it to drop down out of the way.

No, not all Ford F150's are 4X4's. For a newer Ford truck you are going to be looking at around $4000 more for the 4X4 option. The older trucks the gap is less, say around a $1500-2000 difference if price.
The same motor, block, heads ect. I installed an 08 4.2L engine in my 97 F150 that had the OEM 4.2L engine. I had to make my own wire harness from the engine to the ECU and some other modifications for fuel & throttle.
look directly behind the left front bumper(drivers side).I think they put there to protect it while off-roading.
