There are many reasons the light comes on as this is a complex system. You can not turn it off. It must be reset after the fault is fixed. Sometimes dirty speed sensors in the brakes will turn it on. It could be a "broken" control module or ABS pump, both of which are big $$$ to fix. This is a common problem with the Z3s and their ABS/traction control system. If the light is on, you still have brakes, just not ABS.
Turn your ignition to the on position. If an amber lite that reads ABS or Anti-lock comes on in you dash, you do have abs brakes.
You will lose your power steering and tho you still have brakes your ABS may not function
Problem with the ABS.
ABS brakes are an optional extra on the Leganzas. If when you turn your car on, and you see an ABS light on the dashboard, that stays on for about 2 seconds before turning off, then there is a good chance you have ABS. Another way to check, is to take the main fuse box cover off in the engine bay, and there will be 5 or 6 massive fuses at the top of it. If there is a fuse up the top 3 across from the left, then you have ABS. Another even more 'fun' way to check, is to drive along, and then slam on your brakes for a second. If the pedal gets pushed up against your foot, then you definitely have ABS brakes.
Bring to a shop that has an ABS scanner to determine the problem
If your Chevy Venture ABS light is on, that means that there is some type of problem with your anti-lock brakes. For the light to turn off, you will need to see a mechanic and have the problem looked at.
If you turn on the key and there is a light that says ABS, then it does. ABS was an option that year.b
If you are skidding sideways, turn into the skid. That is, if the back of the vehicle is trying to go left, turn left, if the back is going right, turn right. As the skid lessens you'll want to lessen your turn to match, until the vehicle is straight and back under control. Stay off the brakes during the skid until you are staightened out.If you are skidding forwards and the vehicle is straight, and your ABS is working, leave the brakes on and let it work. If you don't have ABS or it's not functioning, let off the brakes and pump them.
The easiest way to turn the light off is to remove the lamp. However, the ABS unit will still not work and the vehicle could slide if the brakes are applied hard.
