Technically yes. In my vehicle - an FX45, it resulted in a significant drop in gas mileage. In addition, the engine had more pinging during hard acceleration, during the first 5 minutes of driving after a cold start, as the engine adjusts to the lower octane rating.
The end result of using a lower octane, it costs me more to go the same distance. So I would not recommend it.
You can use either octane range of 87 to 89. But Daimler-Chrysler recommends to use 89 octane for optimum performance.
my opinion-if it is designed for 87 use 89.
Depends on what type engine. the 2.7 L and 3.5 L are made for 87 octane fuel but can use 89 and 91. The 5.7 L can take 87 octane or 89 octane but i would use 89 for it. if i had the 6.1 hemi i would use the 91 octane cause it is a more consistent fuel.
you should use the medium rating octane(may vary depending on station)but usually 89 octane
87 Octane providing that it does not "ping" excessively - if it does use an 89 Octane
89 OCTANE
I would not use anything less than 89 Octane
65% of 87 and 35% 93 to make 89 octane gas
You need 91 Octane, which you can use 93 octane and 89 octane mix. which is Premium and Mid grade fuel.
i use 89 oct
87 octane should do fine. If you find it knocks a little then go to 89 octane. You can always use 91 octane, won't hurt, just in the pocket book.
Most use 87 octane but some use 89 or 91 octane. The correct grade is listed in your owners manual.
