Which type of cable is most likely in use with RJ45 connectors attached to a computer?

RJ45 connectors are used in "ethernet cables". These cables connect network devices between computers and systems.

What type of connector does a modem use?

On a DSL Modem you will find an RJ45 (Resistor Jack) connector with the help of which you can connect to an ISP of your choice.

What type of connector does a NIC use?

The most common ethernet connector on category 5 and 6 cabling is called RJ-45.

What is the function of RJ45 connector?

RJ45 is the standard 8P8C telecommunications connector commonly found in computer networks such as Ethernet. RJ45 specifies both the plug and the socket. Connections are typically formed using twisted pair cabling, predominantly Category 5 (CAT5). Ethernet cables may be configured as patch cables or as crossover cables. These two configurations are standardised in TIA/EIA-568 and ISO/IEC 11801. Patch cables are used to connect two different devices, such as when connecting a computer to a network switch or hub. Patch cables use the T568B scheme to terminate both endpoints. T568B is also used to terminate socket-to-socket endpoints and adaptors. Crossover cables are used to connect devices of the same type, such as when connecting one computer directly to another, and use the T568A scheme on one end and T568B on the other.

What the use of RJ45?

Short for Registered Jack-45, an eight-wire connector used commonly to connect computers onto a local-area networks (LAN), especially Ethernets. RJ-45 connectors look similar to the ubiquitous RJ-11 connectors used for connecting telephone equipment, but they are somewhat wider.

How do you use RJ45 in telecomsystem?

mallory, is awesome, :D

How do you connect the coaxial cable feed to the ethernet connection on the computer?

Most current networks use UTP but you are describing a "thinwire" network. Thinwire uses coax and an Rg58 connection. UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair) networks use RJ45 connectors. They look like an oversized telephone plug. You can purchase a thinwire modem for your computer if that's what you need, or you can get a hub that can act as a converter if your computer already has an RJ45 network connection.

Can a NIC be used for more than one type of cabling?

Yes, there are Many kinds of NICs capable of using multiple cabling a 10/100 NIC is a NIC that can use both 10BaseT Cabling and 100Base Cabling

What connector is commonly used on CAT 3 cable?

The standard connector for Ethernet cable is called the RJ45 by everybody. The fact this not actually and RJ45 but is in fact a 8P8C in irrelevant to common usage. cat5, cat5e, and cat6 are common specifications for unshielded twisted pair used in Ethernet cabling. Cat5e is useful for distances of up to 100 meters ( you can get a bit more distance out of it) and speeds of up to 1gigabit per second. While cat6 can handle speeds of up to 10 gigabits per second there is no real use for cat6 outside of data centers or as backbone in large environments as the 10Gb equipment is frightfully expensive and a very very fast internet connection of 20 megabits per second is 500 times slower. This is probably too much information but there you go. f:)

What does an Ethernet cable look like?

If it's the common "CAT5", "CAT5e" or "CAT6", it's around 1/4 inch thick, blue, grey or purple jacket, and slightly bumpy due to the four pairs of twisted wires inside the jacket. The connectors are most likely the rectangular clear plastic plugs known (incorrectly) as RJ45, and correctly as 8P8C, fitted to the cable with a special crimping tool, die tool. The cable can be solid-core (cheaper, only suitable for wired-in cabling) or stranded (more expensive, suitable for patch cables and panel-to-computer cables). When fitting connectors, be sure to use the correct ones (for solid core or stranded core).
