The PH3600 is a little shorter then the PH8A.

The gasket O.D is just a little smaller but it should seat just fine.

The PH8A is 1/4" longer and 7/8" wider than the PH3600.

I have always been of the mind set that the more filter you have the better.

Also I advise the use of a Wix filter it's a better quality filter then fram.
