Yes you can. But in practice this rod is meant for smaller fish. When fishing you should ideally match your gear to your target species. this will prevent damage to the equipment and damage tot he fish (for example the rod may snap leaving the fish dragging around a broken rod until it dies).
In general a rod capable of handling larger fish should be used when carp fishing.

∙ 12y agoIve used my 2.5lb test curve carp rod many time before sea fishing, As long as you dont need more than a 4 oz lead to hold bottom. Ive had some fun days catching flounder,bass,eels on my carp rod.
