First, 'these eye drops" could be anything from normal saline, to something prescribed for an adult's eye condition.
Second, NO medication prescribed OR used for 1 child or adult should ever be used by another child or adult. The dropper itself can become contaminated. Also, liquid medications--solutions-- can precipitate out, meaning, part of it can settle to the bottom as a solid or semi-solid (like sugar in tea; or salt in salt water). Medication that has precipitates in it should be thrown away.
Third, pink eye is VERY contagious and can spread fast so you or others around your 5 year old can contract it. Go to the doctor and get the right medication for THIS child.

Gentamicin is pretty safe, I would go ahead as long as it's not expired. If you happen to live in Canada, you can get Polysporin eye drops which work as well or better.
