You can use muriatic acid to clean or etch aluminum. Do not let it set too long or it will eat through. Use caution since muriatic acid is very caustic.
No most muriatic acid no matter its concentration has a chemical reaction with aluminum that gives off H gas.(i have only tried it with Aluminum foil but dont know if it works the same for all Al) Try not to mix the two.
Muriatic Acid is another name for Hydrochloric acid. It's use is mainly industrial, and not household.
Novices should not use muriatic acid for gardening. It is harmful to persons and harmful to the environment, and is recommended only for professional use.
I would not recommend using Muriatic Acid. It is far to strong for this use. Purchase a good industrial carburetor cleaner.
Hydrochloric (Muriatic) Acid can be used for this. It is a mild acid, but still acid, so use care. Using an acid brush brush the acid on the aluminum, depending on the thickness of the aluminum it can that a while, but will remove all aluminum from the cylinders without causing any problems. The fumes can be rough, so ventilation is important. I have used this for years to save engines , so they can be repaired.
Muriatic Acid is an old fashioned (archaic) name for Hydrochloric Acid. I'm sure you know what hydrochloric acid can be used for.
Use muriatic acid.
