Yes. You will need to install Wine (available through Synaptic). After you install it, you should be able to play many (but certainly not all) Windows games.

Will upgrading your computer windows system mess up older programs?

You will have to re-install all your old programs once you've upgraded Windows to a more recent version. They should work, but without knowing which programs you're using I cannot give a definite 'yes' or 'no'.

Old PC that was running on windows MEi want to do a format c and install windows ME don't have the drivers for PC have windows commander on floppy and bootdiscette for MEstep for step?

Save yourself future problems and get a real good OS. Download Ubuntu at http://www.ubuntu.com/GetUbuntu/download and download Free Create-Burn ISO at http://www.nbxsoft.com/files/createburniso.exe When the download finishes, use Create-Burn ISO to burn that ISO to a bootable DVD (requires you to have or buy a DVD writer). Then use the new DVD to install Ubuntu over your old Windows ME install. It will run much faster than ME, it is much more reliable, and you can install "Wine" and then install and run most of your old Windows software.

What are the Disadvantages of using MS DOS over windows operating systems?

MS-DOS is old, very old by computer standards. It is not compatible with most programs and applications now. It won't run right or at all on most newer computers, printers or anything else. If you want to use dos you should have an older computer like 1993 and older. Dos will run older programs and software like 10+ years old but it will not run any windows program even old windows 3.1 programs unless it is installed. A few of those older programs were neat or were useful but most of of it is no where near as good as the new stuff now which is windows compatible. Dos can also be useful for anyone who is into basic programing.

Ubuntu is binary-compatible with it, so you could technically install and run it. However, a system that old might have problems running Ubuntu well, especially if it doesn't have enough RAM.

What is the difference between graphics of dos and windows?

DOS is a command-line system that shows letters and commands rather than icons and menus, and Windows is a desktop environment use either on top of DOS or along with a newer, NT-based Windows operating system. There are programs for DOS that can enable graphics (like old video games), though these graphics are less advanced than in more modern versions of Windows.

In MicroSoft Windows, use the uninstall program found in 'my computer'. Some installed programs have their own uninstall utility, so check if this available first.

Where can you find old games for the windows 98 that came with it?

From a Windows 98 CD. Incidentally, a retail copy of Windows 98 only came with a few games, like Solitaire, MineSweeper, and Canfield. Other games may have been bundled on a manufacturer's copy, but you would need their CD to copy them off of.

What are the benefits of using the Ubuntu OS compared to Windows?

There are many benefits of Ubuntu or other Linux operating systems, but some of the main ones are listed here:It's FreeExcluding Red Hat, most Linux distributions are open-source and are free to use and distribute. In addition, Ubuntu has a variety of free software alternatives to paid software; e.g. LibreOffice ($0) instead of Microsoft Office ($120 or more). It's FastUbuntu requires much less from your system compared to Windows, allowing even old computers running Linux to be as fast as new ones running Windows. Already have a fast computer? Even better. It's SafeLinux distributions, while still susceptible, are much more secure from viruses and malware than Windows, partially because there are much less viruses made for Ubuntu than there are for Windows, and also because of requiring the administrator to enter the root password before allowing anything that can potentially cause harm to the computer to run. Also, the security prevents inexperienced users from destabilizing crucial parts of the system. It's CoolThere are many neat features that Ubuntu has that Windows still lack, one of them being the Virtual Desktops feature. This allows you to have the equivalent of four separate monitors running in on, which means no more cluttered windows all over the desktop. Compiz also allow you to add cool effects to the desktop. It's EasyDespite common assumptions, using Ubuntu can be just as easy as using Windows. Right up from the installation process, a user-friendly window guides you through the steps of setting up your computer. Installing software is made easier, too by packages and the Ubuntu Software Center. This allows you to to download and install the software and all the stuff it needs to run in one click, instead of trying to hunt down a specific pre-required software on the Internet.
