Sometimes, yes. But they do taste different and their texture is different so the resulting dish will be quite different. I'd experiment first and see if you like the result before you serve it to someone else.
Ricotta has a distinct flavor, but cottage cheese substitutes nicely if you don't have ricotta or are having trouble finding it. I use cottage cheese instead of ricotta in lasagna about 9 out of 10 times that I make it. It's just as delicious either way.
No you can't use ricotta cheese instead of cottage cheese, it ruins the flavor

No. Plain yogurt is a good substitute for sour cream. A substitute for ricotta cheese is cottage cheese that has been drained of excess water (use cheese cloth or seive).
Ricotta cheese is NOT a substitute for romano cheese. Use parmesan if you must. Ricotta cheese is more like cottage cheese. Romano cheese is a stronger, tastier than parmesan cheese also know as the pizza cheese.
Cheddar! Cheddar tastes well with anything!
Yes you can
definitely not cuz cottage cheese ain't have so much fat as ricotta cheese. If ur on a diet, id say follow the recipe ur usin so your diet works. :)
the Difference is that Cottage cheese is more lumpy and tastes great with pineaple, whereas ricotta tastes better with pasta and is a creamy cheese(i think) this answer is only a guess so dont use it for papers or stuff like that
Your lasagna will suck. Go get some ricotta, then make it. Don't use cottage cheese - not as good. If you can't use dairy, then get something comparable made of soy. There's also similar cheese made from sheep or goat milk.
No, you don't You can also use sour cream or cottage cheese also.
quark is made from buttermilk. cottage cheese is made from milk. .
I would say no. Mascarpone is sweet and creamy whereas ricotta is drier and bland. I would recommend you use a cream cheese (like Philadelphia) instead. You can use 8oz of Cream Cheese, 1/4 cup of Heavy whipping cream and 2 1/2 tbsp of Sour Cream and whip it together... This is VERY similar...! Just don't substitute anything in this mixture, and you should be set! Ricotta cheese is similar to cottage cheese. They can be substituted. It is also easy to make ricotta; whole milk, heavy cream, salt and white vinegar. dairy curdles. Mascarpone is similar to cream cheese just sweeter. It is used in desserts, where as the cream cheese usage would require more sugar.
It depends on why you are "substituting" the beef. In a recipe, no. As a dietary substitute, perhaps. Both beef and cottage cheese are forms of protein, dietarily you can eat cottage cheese rather than beef. Trying to use it in a recipe instead of beef is a potential disaster.
Id depends on what your intended use is for the ricotta as to whether cream cheese may be substituted. In general i would say no because the two cheese while both being soft and white are very different in their textures and uses in food preparation and cooking. sometimes mascarpone and cream cheese are interchangeable but i would insist on using ricotta when a recipe requires it.
