No. I tried to put a normal head gasket on my banshee and it leaked coolant like crazy! you have to have the o-rings!
If you are sure that it did not freeze and crack the block, Then the intake manifold gasket is leaking. That is a common problem with the vortec Chevy engines. You need to replace the gasket with a factory Chevy gasket from the dealer.
If you are referring to leaking out of one of the overflow hoses, your float is sticking. If it is leaking from the body of the carb, the gasket where the carb and float bowl bolt together needs to be replaced.
drain the oil from the vehicle, unbolt the oil pan, scrape old gasket from pan and crankcase. check the torque specifications for the oil pan bolts (shouldnt be very high). replace the gasket and oil pan to factory torque specs. put drain plug back in and fill with factory specs of oil.
You do not need to add a sealant to the gasket. Just make sure you torque the bolts to factory specs.
I would never reuse any gasket they are cheap and its just not worth the chance. It will probably not re seal
This question is incomplete but I will offer some thought. The transmission filter purchased from the local auto parts store has a rubber gasket attached to the tube which sticks into a port on the underside of the body of the transmission. The factory original rubber gasket tends to remain inside the port. I was told that the gasket on the replacement filter could be removed and the original gasket could remain in place to seal the replacement filter. The factory original gasket appears to be an aluminum ring overlaid with rubber and would likely require a special tool to remove. My experience with this situation is very limited and perhaps someone with better knowledge can give a more professional answer or offer advice for removing the factory original gasket. This is a completely separate issue from replacing the pan gasket.
no,wouldnt use silicone due to heat going through stat housing, use a high temp "gasket sealer"
They only make 1 size head gasket. It don't matter if it is 10 20 30 40 or 60 over the factory head gasket will fit with no PROBLEM.
Probably your cam cover gasket (top of engine)leaking into the wells. You can use sealant instead of gasket
If you are referring to the head gasket it can blow easily if the engine overheats. Unless there is a factory defect this is usually why head gaskets blow and mileage on the engine is not a factor.
Absolutely not. There is a problem somewhere such as faulty installation or possibly the surface of the head is warped and needs to be machined. A factory installed gasket is good for at least 150k.
You could but it may leak.
