I went to Lincoln Tech Auto school and the Professor in my Automatic Transmissions class told me the best thing to do, to clean out your engine is to put Automatic Transmission Fluid in it and run it over the weekend and then change it out with regular motor oil.
350 Engines dont have transmission fluid. The Transmission does. Start the engine, leave the trans in Park, pull the dipstick and look at it. fill to full mark when the engine is fully warned up
Std. transmission? Bad clutch? Auto transmission? Check transmission fluid level
Pull the transmission dip stick out and read it. It will tell you what fluid to use and how to check it. With the older Chrysler automatics, they want the engine running and the transmission in neutral to get an accurate reading. ATF+4
If the transmission modulator valve is vacuum operated and it goes bad it can allow the engine to suck transmission fluid thru the engine causing the engine to blow blue smoke out the exhaust.
You add transmission fluid through the same tube where the transmission dipstick is located. You need a funnel used for transmission oil. The funnel is long, narrow and the end can fit into the dipstick tube.
What I like to do from time to time is add a quart of Transmission fluid about 3 days before an oil change, the transmission fluid has detergents that clean out any sludge from your engine. of coarse if you never change your oil and its thick as tar you may need professional help for your car.
to the transmission, not the engine
You should never add transmission fluid to a Chevrolet 350 engine. You can add transmission fluid to the transmission through the transmission dipstick holder.
NO!!!! do not do this, oil is oil, transmission fluid is transmission fluid, and antifreeze is antifreeze, do not mix any of these, it can perminately damage your engine.
The transmission dipstick is at the center rear of the engine comparment behind the distributor. This is how you have to fill the transmission fluid as well. DO NOT overfill the transmission fluid, that is the quickest and easiest way to damage a transmission. Transmission fluid is to be checked on a warm engine, idling in park.
It calls for transmission fluid =]
No. Transmission fluid lubricates the transmission. Coolant is used by the radiator to cool the engine.
transmission fluid is getting into engine in our 1984 ford f 150
Transmission fluid doesn't go into the engine.
The Honda Rincon uses engine oil as transmission fluid so when you change your engine oil or check your engine oil level you are also changing or checking the transmission fluid at the same time.
in the engine in the engine in the engine
The 1997 Chevrolet express 7.4 liter engine should never have transmission fluid point into it. The engine holds 6.4 quarts of motor oil. The transmission holds nine quarts of transmission fluid.
