The Grand Canyon is a very dangerous hike for several reasons. Because of the dangers, the national parks service advises that a hike from the rim to the river and back is not a good idea. This does not mean that it cannot be done. Infact, it is done quite often. It will usually require a generous amount of water, over 200 oz., as well as food for the trip. You should also be in decent physical shape before trying as it is very strenuous. The hike from the rim to the river and back will take between 7 and 12 hours depending on your physical conditioning.
The answer is no unless you are acclimated to intense heat (120 in shade at bottom) and are in top physical condition. I hiked across in 3 days. However if you hike across there is always the problem of getting your car back so think ahead. A trip to the river and back in one day is brutal especially with going back. My advice is doing it in three days and actually enjoying yourself somewhat.
It is not only possible, but running from Rim to Rim to Rim (RRR) is a classic, must do for extreme sport enthusiasts and a mark of pride for every serious mountain racer who wants to flaunt his or her reputation. A RRR is not for the amateur, the ill equipped or for the faint of heart. A Rim to Rim hike should be a snap for a seasoned back packer or amateur marathoner. Water availability is a serious consideration and requires planning. The most popular and shortest route is from the South and North Trail heads and covers 41.8 miles for the RRR. Vertical change is just as important in both the hike and the RRR. From a South Rim start at 7,260 feet you will descend to 2,400 feet and head for the North Rim Trailhead with an elevation of 8,250 feet. If you are a serious hiker and backpaker, take the casual approach, with a hike to the Canyon floor and an overnight stay. On day two, do the hike up and down the North Rim with a much lighter pack and agaiin spend the night on the Canyon floor. You will have all of the next day to regain the South Rim, pack your gear and drive to a decent motel in Flagstaff.
It certainly can and you can still make it to Vegas for dinner. The problem with that kind of travel is that you will have had nothing but a drive by and you will take with you nothing in terms of the beauty, grandeur and marvel of either site. You would be better served by 4 hours on the internet. Yes, you can say that you've been there and done that, but you have not seen or experienced either location.
The Skywalk does not cross the Grand Canyon.
there are no bridges crossing the grand canyon because it is too big 277 miles. the grand canyon sky walk only extends a Little over it.
