Olive oil is useful in keeping a dog's coat healthy year-round and to prevent dry, itchy skin. It is recommended in small doses (5-6 drops in the dog's food, twice per day). Nothing I've found indicates it's dangerous for a puppy to eat it, but if you are worried about it the safest thing would be to wait until your pup is more fully grown. If you do give it to your puppy, add 1-2 drops to their food instead of 5-6, as they have a smaller body and will therefore need less of the fatty acids and oils.
