in my opinoin yes if you have the ability to care for his needs and if the laws in his or your area permit a 16 yeah old child to decide which parent he wants to live with.

It is up to you as his mother to sit down with him, assure it alright to tell you how he feels about his father and then decide. Your husband may just be strict with him, or, your son may have good reason for not wanting to be around his father.
