yes in fact it was a tradition in Mexican Aztec tribes to choose warriors with most "prominent" belly buttons for sacrificial ceremonies. This tradition is well recorded in the diaries of Pizarro and even led to some 19th Spanish literature on the subject and various cults who believe in the power of the navel. It is even believed that the mussel symbolically placed in the middle of many tapas dishes is linked to this ancient but not forgotten, or in any way invented, religion. Mussels are also nice with chips.
