Over heating can blow a head gasket
It won't cause over heating.....but it can go bad and send a signal that the engine is over heating when it is not.
most probable cause would be over heating
Severely over heating the engine may have damaged the main and rod bearings.
:( by much heating and over used.
Using it too much or overloading it. Improvement, Using the engine too much will certainly not cause over heating. The most likely cause for the over heating is a clogged cooling shroud. Remove the top engine cover that surrounds the flywheel and remove the grass and debris. Mice love to make nests under those engine covers as well. Kevin
Yes it can. To much oil and the crank can turn it into foam. Which will cause a loss of oil pressure. This can lead to engine damage and over heating if you run it long enough.
The thermostat control engine temperature. If it fails the engine can run hot or cold - that would happen long before over-heating caused the engine to stall.
have your radiator cleaned and replace your thermostate, clogged radiators and sticky thermostats can cause your engine to overheat under load.
To keep the car engine from over heating
If the coolant reservoir can not maintain the proper level of coolant, it is possible the engine could over heat when the level drops.
Austin Davis wrote a good ezine article on this. See the link to the right. As he says, "Symptoms that usually cause red warning lights are engine over-heating, low oil pressure, transmission over-heating, low battery voltage, and brake failure."
