it is proably a bad printed circuit board for the cluster an easy way to diagnose this is when the cluster gose out and the van wont start take your hand and slap the top of the dash board to the right of the steering wheel firmly and do this with the key on if the cluster comes back and the van starts you need the circuitboard
The instrument cluster can cause that problem. It shorts out the communication system between the computers.
To get a 2003 F-150 Truck to start after replacing the instrument cluster the cluster will have to be re-programmed. A dealer or possibly a locksmith can reprogram an instrument cluster.
First be sure the dash light brightness control switch is not turned off then check the fuse.
Does the van crank for a moment then shut off? If so this is something I just fixed on my van. It seems it was a short in the instrument cluster, it tells the van that it was stolen and does not allow the computer to come on. I was able to bumb mine right on top of the cluster and sometimes it would come up. All I did to fix it was replace the instrument cluster with one from a junk yard. Been working great ever since and this must be a common problem as I've read much about it on the net. I replace the cluster myself and it was not very hard, all I used was a Phillips screw driver and a bit of patience. Sure hope this helps.
won't start and d in cluster blinks... what can i do to fix it?
It is possible that the reason for the P0505 code would cause a vehicle not to start. It relates toÊthe idle air vacuum line.
I would start with your battery.
Failed battery.
Yes it can
This can cause your seals to start leaking
keys have to be reprogram to the cluster
