A cheap unlocked cell phone would probably be a used flashed phone. A flashed phone is a phone that is able to be used by other carriers. New ones wouldn't be cheap.
Okay here is the correct answer: If the phone does NOT have a Sim card it CANT be flashed into cricket. Only phones without a Sim card can be flashed. But there might be a solution to that because the sidekick doesn't require a Sim card to work so just call cricket to verify that you are able to flash it before you go to the store.

If you mean a Motorola RAZR phone locked to Metropcs, then it's not possible. AT&T runs on a GSM carrier, while Metropcs runs on a different technology, which is not compatible with GSM. So even if the phone is flashed, it would still not work on AT&T.
