What happens a lot is dealers will advertise their cars for a certain price then when you go in to buy the car the tack on extra fees. So basically the only thing dealerships should be charging you are taxes, registration and licensing. So if you wanted to buy a $10,000 car taxes would be around $700 plus registration and licensing which is another $300 give or take. So if you're walking away with the car for $11,000 then you are in good shape. If it's more than that you need to negotiate price until they come down, or walk away.

The dealer charged you more than the advertised price can you return it you are in Illinois?

If the dealer charged you more than the advertised price, you can probably return your car. You could also just make them correct the price.

Tell the people you are trying to buy it from that you found the same one elsewhere for less and that you are going to go with that one unless they lower the price, simple as that.

If a car sell is printed wrong on autotrader and you go to the dealer that has the car do they have to give you the car for the price printed on the web or will you have to sew for false advertisement?

They have to sell for the advertised price. But if it's from a dealer they'll figure out how to make it up in dealer fees

Can you return a car if you find out the salesman sold it to you for more than listed on their website?

It is illegal in California to sell over the advertised price regardless of if the buyer was aware of it or not. The courts have ruled that accident typos are considered fixable, but in all other cases it is illegal. You would need to talk with an attorney first. Nope. My dealership has three prices on all their vehicles. The lot price is 1k over book value, the internet price is 1k under book value and my price is 2k over lot price. All car deals are negotiable, but once you agree to the price, it's binding. In defense of the dealer, they probably advertise in several mediums ( as we do )such as print, radio, internet and television, each medium with its own account rep of varying knowledge and ability, and at any given time the price on a particular unit may differ by several thousand dollars across the span of our advertising(either deliberately or through some of the idiotic mistakes our ad vendors make).Whatever the case, the previous answer is absolutely correct: The price you agree to, pay to the dealer, and accept on delivery is the price you pay. Period. Consider an alternative perspective: You sure wouldn't pay MORE for the vehicle if the dealer called you up two weeks later and told you the price YOU paid was lower than the advertised price.-David"Consider an alternative perspective: You sure wouldn't pay MORE for the vehicle if the dealer called you up two weeks later and told you the price YOU paid was lower than the advertised price."Very well put, David.-Christopher

If a car is advertised for a lesser price and then then say was a misprint are they obliged to sell at advertised price?

Usually, no. Look for the small print at the bottom of the ad. "Not responsible for typographical errors."

Should a car dealership sell a car for the legally advertised price?

Absolutely not! The dealer should sell the car based on what it's worth in the current market. The rule of supply and demand come into effect. For instance, a very limited line of cars that come out, even though the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) stays the same, fewer units with more people wanting them, will drive the price much higher than the "legally advertised" or MSR price.

Are companies obligated to have more than one item at the advertised price?
