The great depression was caused by many reasons, one reason is the stock value crash , the stock value crash occurred on Black Tuesday, October 29, 1929.the other reason that may have played a part in the great depression is the bank failures; through out the 1930s over 9,000 banks failed everyone that put money in those banks have now lost it unless of course they had insurance but insurance would not cover the total cost lost, so if you lost 1 million dollars that is too bad, also the banks that were still open would not give out loans to the people, this situation made people less willing to buy things. With the Stock Market crash the people were too afraid to waste there money on anything so they saved it, the factories that made too many products had now lost money because no one would buy anything, this led to a reduction of the items produced and an increase in the unemployment rate, with less employment means there would be less people that are willing to buy products or items which made the whole economic situation even worse.

Dual federalism was replaced by cooperative federalism for many reasons. One such reason is the Great Depression. When the Great Depression occurred, Americans wanted answers and action and in turn the Federal government began to use more of its power to respond and fix things. Cooperative federalism was born out of this.
Hoover was alive during the great depression. He was rich enough that it did not personally affect his way of life.
The economic reform program spearheaded by Franklin D. Roosevelt to fix the problems the Great Depression had caused the nation was called the New Deal. The key ideas of the New Deal were to cause a market shift within the American economy. To do this, Roosevelt created thousands of new jobs, reformed business, labor, and government methods of dealing with the depression, and greatly increased government control in American's supposed free enterprise economy.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt believed that the only way to get the country out of the Great Depression was to create programs. These programs laid the groundwork for some of the current government assistance programs.
Eight months into Hoover's presidency, the Great Depression hit. He mistakenly believed it would only be a brief recession. Later it became clear that excessive speculation and a worldwide economic crisis had resulted in landing the country in a depression. Although he worked hard to fix the economy by funding agencies, encouraging labor relations, formed liaisons between business and government to stabilize prices , his focus was on indirect relief from the states and the private sector. As the depression worsened and calls for federal aid, were demanded, Hoover dug his heels in because he believed government intervention would lead to socialism. This did not bode well with the people and he was defeated by Franklin Delano Roosevelt in his reelection effort. How did Hoover start the great depression.
It's roots trace back to the New Deal and Franklin D. Roosevelt in the 1930's. It was in response to the Great Depression as a short term fix to help those who became destitute during the Great Depression get back on their feet.
He thought that it was part of a free enterprise system and it would eventually fix itself.
