how 2 change a 1999 speedo cable
Speedometers are not cable driven anymore, they are electronic. You may have a faulty speed sensor.
1996 ranger does not have speedo cable it is electronic
its electric from 1995
Take the speedo cable out and via that hole.
You have to remove the speedo cable on a manual and fill it there, or if automatic you fill it through the dipstick tube.. The correct level on manual should be just above the white gear.
the tail shaft of the tranny on the speedo cable
you need to pull the speedo cable out from the gearbox and if you clean around were the speedo cable goes in you will see a picture of the gear on the end of the cable this diagram will show were the full line is on the gear also make sure it is manual trans oil because some of the lasers run atf in the manual box
On the bottom of the transmission with a set of wires going to it from the speedo assembly where the speedo cable is connected for a manual tranny
Clutches in laser are operated by cable you don't have to put fluid anywhere.
Disconnect cable from speedo drive on the box. Remove screw holding drive. Remove the speedo drive from the gearbox. The oil level is measured on the drive. The oil should cover the teeth and about 5mm above . The oil is added through this hole. Don't over fill.
That's too easy, the toploader had the speedo cable held in with a retainer bracket, simply remove that bolt and pull it free, then remove the instrument cluster and unscrew the cable from the back of the speedo. Watch where it pulls through the firewall so you can route the new one the same way.
