Conversion is the process of changing from the old system to the new one and there are four main strategies: Parallel Strategy, Pilot Study, Direct Cutover and Phased Approach. Parallel Strategy is where both the old and new system are runing together until everyone is assured that the new system is functioning correctly. Direct Cutover is where the old system is replaced with the new system on a particular specific date. Pilot Study is the introduction of the new system first to a limited area of the organisation and when the pilot version is working properly - it is installed throughout the rest of the organisation. Phased Approach is where the new system is introduced in stages, either by functions or by organisational units.
