Genghis Khan (also recently known as Chingis Khan) was a brutal man. As a Mongol, he grew up pillaging and learning different war techniques. When he became the leader of the Mongol Empire, he fought and conquered Asia, making the Mongol Empire the largest contiguous land empire in history. He was known to show no mercy by boiling people alive, starving entire cities, and killing ruthlessly. As a favor to his blood brother, he killed the man 'honorably' by breaking his back. These characteristics were all part of his culture, therefore not making him barbaric--even though he did have some barbaric qualities.
