I went to the ford dealer and they said ...."It must be the valve in the vapor management valve" and they could replace it for $500.
No, resetting the light will not fix the cause of the problem.
Try resetting the computer
The engine management has detected something wrong. Get the diagnostic code read and go from there. If you have changed the battery or a fuse recently it could just be the data bus has spiked and needs resetting.

In general, engine thermostats can be found by following the LOWER radiator hose to where it attaches to the engine. The hose is typically attached to a fitting behind which is a gasket and the thermostat. The gasket needs to be replaced when the thermostat is replaced.
Have your tried replacing, and/or resetting your IAC valve?.
If your engine management light comes on, there may be a problem with your vehicle. The only way for the light to be removed is by resetting the light. The light needs to be reset by someone with a resetting tool. This is generally your local mechanic.
You will have to drive it until it comes on.
