The light will not go out until you get the thing fixed that keeps it on. The first thing to do is open your hood. Check your oil, Transmission Fluid, coolant, washer fluid, and any other levels that you can check. Check for a loose fitting. Check for a loose wire. If you see something broken that you can not fix, have it fixed. If you do not see something that you can fix right away, then take it to a mechanic. I have fixed that light when an air hose was loose. Usually it has been more difficult.
