This question could be better phrased so I'll just give you a brief explanation. If you already have the firing order then you need to know which way the distributor rotates. This information is usually associated with the firing order so you should already have that too. The convention for numbering the cylinders is that you start counting from the front. On V-Shaped engine it may not seem to have one in front but rest assured one cylinder is in front of all of the others because they are offset so that the connecting rods don't interfere. I don't know for 350s but usually the front drivers side is 1 then the rest follow like this:

Rear

8 7

6 5

4 3

2 1

Front

When in doubt pull the spark plugs out and slowly rotate the engine with a wrench. Plug any one spark plug hole with your finger and when you start to feel pressure build up in that cylinder you know it's on its compression stroke (This shouldn't take more than two rotations of the crank). Keep going until the piston approximately reaches the top of its travel. Once there take a look at which terminal your distributor's rotor is pointing. Hook up one end of your ignition wire to the cap's terminal and the other to a spark plug that will be screwed into that cylinder. Hope that wasn't confusing.
