Motor home classification is determined by body type, not by weight (tare or gross). A Class A motorhome is simply a single piece body with a cab forward design... the chassis can range from anything from a Class 2 van chassis up to a Class 8 bus chassis.
A class A motorhome refers to a motorhome that is construced on either a commercial truck chassis or a commercial bus chassis. A class A motorhome also resembles a bus due to its flat front end and large, flat windows.
motor home
It all depends on the class of the motor home; they are divided into classes similar to trucks and semis. Class A, the largest class, weigh between 15,000 to 30,000. Class B, the most basic class, weigh 6,000 to 8,000, and Class C motor homes weigh between 10,000 to 12,000.
In North America motorhome prices can commonly range from $50,000 from for a Class C mini-home up to $350,000 for the largest Class A luxury motorhome like the 45' Rear Diesel Tuscany by Thor Motor Coach. Of coarse some customer motorhomes have been know to go for a half of million all the way up to 2 million US dollars.

A Class A motor home is a purpose-built vehicle, typically built on a truck or bus chassis. They have a larger floor area (than Class B or C motor homes) which allows for accommodation of more people and the luxury of more or larger amenities. Class A motor homes are usually much larger than Class C and Class B. For a reference, Class C motor homes usually have driving cab and living areas as separate quarters. Class C motor homes typically have a sleeping cab above the driving unit. Class B are camper-vans, e.g. vans with a living area.
