You will have to replace the climate control unit. This may sound difficult but is pretty easy. There is usually a trim piece surrounding the entire panel on which is the climate control unit and the radio. I think there are four to six screws holding it in place. Remove the trim panel and you will see that four screws hold the climate control unit in place. Pull the unit out, unplugging the connector(s) at the back and replace it with the new one. 1988 might be too old to find one in a salvage lot, but that is where I recommend you go to find a replacement unit.
The blower "switch" is the knob or lever that you turn or move to adjust the fan speed. Located right on the climate control, next to the temperature setting.
ALL u have to do is change ur blower limit switch is going bad.
There is a Blower Motor Resistor Pack. Either the blower motor speed control switch itself is defective or the Resistor Pack is bad.
The blower resistor, located behind the glove box, has failed.
Defective blower motor, blower motor resistor pack, or blower motor speed control switch.
either the blower control switch or the blower motoer needs replacing
yes
It is usually a resistor on or near the switch in the dash.
Change blower fan control switch in the dash
I had the same problem and ended up replacing the blower resistor and the blower motor. Although it could be one or the other .. mine was both.
I had the same problem with my Town Car. It had a thermal cutout switch on the hot water line coming from the engine to the heater. This switch kept the fan from coming on before the engine got warm. I bypassed the switch by taking both wires off and connecting them because the price of a new switch was totally ridiculous. Now i have complete controle of the fan with the switch on the control.
If you are saying the blower motor will not work, then check the fuse. If the fuse is not blown, then it is possibly a defective Blower Motor Resistor Pack, blower motor, or blower motor speed control switch, in that order. If you are saying the blower motor will not work, then check the fuse.
