Committee on public information in ww1?

Committee on Public Information also known as CPI.

Was an independent agency of the government of the United States created to influence U.S. public opinion regarding American participation in World War I.

Was created by President Woodrow Wilson

The purpose of the CPI was to influence American public opinion to start supporting the United States of America's participation in World War I.

The way that this was done was through propaganda.

They started out using real facts but it soon progressed into usage of things like Germans as monsters and other unrealistic things.

It caused people to be so against Germans that some people would go around killing Germans that lived in the US.
