The Magna Carta differs from the Declaration of Independence in the way that it influenced the Declaration, and was written in a time many years before the Declaration came into play. They both declare that there will be now unlawful imprisionment or rights taken away from citizens, but the Magna Carta was more the law of the land and the Declaration of Independence is the protection of citizens freedom.

The Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen (French: Déclaration des droits de l'Homme et du citoyen) is a fundamental document of the French Revolution, defining the individual and collective rights of all the estates of the realm as universal. Influenced by the doctrine of natural rights, the rights of Man are universal: valid at all times and in every place, pertaining to human nature itself.

The United States Declaration of Independence is a statement adopted by the Second Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, which announced that the thirteen American colonies then at war with Great Britain were now independent states, and thus no longer a part of the British Empire. Written primarily by Thomas Jefferson, the Declaration is a formal explanation of why Congress had voted on July 2 to declare independence from Great Britain, more than a year after the outbreak of the American Revolutionary War.

The Decl of Independence didn't ennumerate individual rights, indicating that certain rights were self-evident and it wasn't necessary to point them out. The Decl of the Rights of Man was interested in specifically declaring certain rights.

Neither document addressed the issues of slavery or women's rights, which were implicitly ignored since no slaves or women participated in the writing or approval of the documents. Indeed, T Jefferson and others were slave-owners.

~Revision of Misinformation Commonly Accepted by Jeremy Richardson~

The original draft of the Declaration of Independence (made by Thomas Jefferson) addressed the issue of slavery. The original Declaration of Independence was changed because Jefferson had discussed the controversial issue of slavery when it was taboo to do so. Both the northern and southern representatives agreed that it should have not been put in the final draft of the Declaration of Independence, because they were still indulging in slave trafficking. It would have been contradictory and irresponsible for a white American slave owner to allow it in the Declaration of Independence. Franklin and Adams had there share in the revision of Jefferson's rough draft.

The Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen was a document that addressed the rights of mankind. If one looks at the first four stanzas one can see that the french National Assembly believed that all people were endowed with natural rights. The fourth stanza stuck out more than the rest if one compared it to the treatment of slaves: "4. Liberty consists in the freedom to do everything which injures no one else;...".

This document did not abolish slavery in France, and not until after Haiti fought for its freedom in 1791, did France's National Assembly decide on freeing slaves in their colonies (with taxation of course). Napoleon decided to bring slavery back when he came to power in France (1804).

They are the same in the likes that both documents are trying to establish rights for the people of their nation. The magna carta was in reference to King John and his heavy taxing, and the people limited his power to better suit their nation. The declaration of independence was in reference to Great Britain, and the colonies broke off of great Britain because of many things, including taxation without representation.

How is the bill of rights and the Declaration of Independence the same?

The Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence are two separate and distinct documents. The Declaration of Independence explains why it had become necessary for the United States of America to declare its independence from England. The Bill of Rights listed a number of things that congress can not do. There is a connection. After the first four long sentences, The Declaration of Independence contains a bill of particulars. Some of the issues in the bill of particulars are in the bill of rights. Compare the literary style of the declaration of indepedence with the u.s constitution?

The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution are both very formally written. However, the Declaration of Independence was written to claim independence while the Constitution is only setting up laws for an already independent nation. The authors of the Declaration wanted to affect its readers by explaining exactly what was being done and why it was happening. The Constitution only wanted to affect the readers by giving rules and rights to people and the government. So in contrast, the Declaration was written to be more assertive and demanding, and the Constitution was written to be more assuring and promising of rights and powers. Both documents were very affective to the people and each is more affective in different ways.Benjamin Franklin deftly used common, everyday language and folk wisdom in Poor Richard's Almanack to draw a large readership for his serialized writings. )\]}>APEX
