the most important theme that is mentioned in this poem is, description, in "Nothings changed", the poet expreses his feelings very vividly, he uses descriptive words such as "cuffs, cans" to express his anger, towards the social inequalities that still exits.
but you also need to be able to talk about the other poetic devices :
Alliteration
Repetition --- which are all sound effects
Onomatopoeia
--------------------
simile
metaphor ------ which are all uses of imagery
personification
--------------------
punctuation
Hint:
list those as a table before you start, if you cant talk about all of them because you run out of time, the examiner will see that you were going to talk about them, and still gives you marks for it.
good luck :)
Both poems explore the theme of social inequalities, power dynamics, and the persistence of prejudice. "Nothing's Changed" by Tatamkhulu Afrika portrays the continuation of apartheid in South Africa despite political changes, while "Scavengers" by Sandra Tisue draws parallels between scavengers and a wealthy couple to comment on materialism and social hypocrisy. Both poems highlight the disparities and injustices present in society.

The garbage truck is described as being the color red in the poem "Two Scavengers in a Truck, Two Beautiful People in a Mercedes" by Lawrence Ferlinghetti.
It's a Poem by Lawrence Ferlinghetti
Tatamkhulu Afrika was born in Egypt in 1920. His family moved to South Africa where he spent the rest of his life. South Africa operated a system of control called Aparthied. This word means Seperateness. So, black people were not allowed to mix with white people and inter-marriage was made criminal(!). There were seperate areas on public transport. Many public places were white only. Tatamkulu protested all his life about this injustice and aparthied has been legally abolished in South Africa but there is still a long way to go meaning that nothings changed. This is why his poem is called nothings changed because just one place is not a big enough impact so it is like nothing's changed..Sorry i couldnt write a lot about this and hope this answer helped any that needed it..? (Misao age 12 XD) xx thanks guys x

The social context of the poem "Two Scavengers in a Truck, Two Beautiful People in a Mercedes" by Lawrence Ferlinghetti addresses class distinctions and inequality. The poem contrasts the lives of two pairs of characters — the garbage men and the affluent couple in the Mercedes — to highlight the disparities in social status and privilege. Ferlinghetti uses this juxtaposition to critique societal norms and challenge perceptions of worth based on wealth and appearance.
The Odyssey- it asks you to compare the poem to the book's point of view.
