Periods may be late for a few reasons even if you are a virgin. The reason virginity was mentioned in the question was because many associate a late period with pregnancy.
If you've lost or gained weight recently, this could be a reason. If it is only a few days to a week late, I wouldn't worry, but if it is really late, you need to see a doctor, because something could be really wrong.
