Whether or not the ability to work and study from home is positive or negative is debatable. Some may argue that although convenient, today's generation is too focused on electronics and not enough on socialization. Enabling individuals to work and study out of their homes may further inhibit their socialization by not requiring them to leave their house. The opposite end of the argument is that parents are able to spend more time at home with their children, instead of leaving them with daycare providers. This also saves individuals money that it would usually cost for them to commute back and forth to work on a daily basis.
If it is convenient for the child to share another computer or just have it in the office, do that. Having computers in bedrooms can lead to a lot of things you wouldn't want them to do, and waste a lot of time. Children should really be supervised if they have a tenancy to do things you wouldn't approve of.
Some companies that sell computers for children include Kid Computers, Patheos and Peewee PC. Another company that you may be interested in is Mindstorms.

Computers
Yes
Computers do enrich the lives of children in view of the fact that they promote reading as most of the data on computers is text that needs to be read. They also save time as using the computers to gain information would exempts us from the time required to browse through books for the same material. It also flourishes children's intellectual abilities.
None considering those computers had not been invented
Of course Schools support computers to students as part of their ICT lessons.
