Firstly Dubai was very reliant on oil in the past however the Dubai government's decision to diversify from a trade-based but oil-reliant economy to one that is service- and tourism-oriented has made property and other developments more valuable, resulting in the property boom from 2004-2006. Construction on a large scale has turned Dubai into one of the fastest-growing cities in the world. Tourism has created employment opportunities, increased the country's foreign currency earning, and enhanced the image of the area in the short run this is good however in the long run its bad for the country in terms of all the negative impacts tourism creates ie leakage, pollution air&noisr, increased living costs and staged authencitiy.
