the consequence? meaning only ONE consequence? Well, the major consequence would be that there wouldn't be enough space for everyone, nor food. Wars would happen. People would suffer because there would be more polution and more dangers to the environment. There wouldn't be enough jobs for everyone, nor places in school for children. The world would be overloaded. Hope that gives you some ideas, :)
I'm no anthropologist, but I believe some consequences may be food/water shortages, sanitation/pollution issues, and I'm sure joblessness eventually. But I guess it all depends on the infrastructure of where the explosion occurred, or potentially will occur.

It is when too many people have babies and the population of the world explodes, similar to that of a mass destruction bomb and it causes pollution.
There was no population "explosion" before the end of World War II. Millions of people died both as soldiers and as civilians during World War II. The period immediately following World War II experienced a population explosion because soldiers, mostly from allied countries, returned home, married and had children. This era is known as the "baby boomers"

The major factors that are responsible for population explosion are illiteracy, reduced mortality, increased birth rate, and an increase in life expectancy.
